Synopsis

Mandy came from a background that offered few exits and one person she believed she could rely on. That person, her mentor, was the one who introduced her to Kris, and the introduction felt like the moment her luck finally turned. Kris operated at the top of the financial world, and the things he began providing arrived quickly and without apparent conditions: a position most people would spend a decade working toward, an apartment far beyond what her salary could reach, and a place at Harvard that rewrote what her future could look like. Each gift was real. Each one also functioned as another wall in a structure Mandy could not yet see the shape of. The detail that set everything in motion was a worn sachet she carried from her hometown, an object with no value to anyone but her, and Kris's reaction to it revealed that what he wanted was not her gratitude or her ambition but the part of her that belonged to no one. The series moves across 85 episodes through Mandy's slow adjustment to a life that is objectively better than anything she came from, shadowed by a discomfort she cannot name, and toward the question of whether she recognizes the architecture around her while she still has the will to want out of it.
