Synopsis

The galaxy Raine lives in runs on a single obsession: blood. A person's worth, rank, and future are all decided by the purity of their bloodline, and Raine's places him at the very bottom. He is a wasteland miner, the kind of person the ruling classes label fodder and spend without a thought. When he enters the Vanguard trials, he does it for one reason that has nothing to do with the power or status the nobles are chasing. He needs to save his mother. The elites who watch him step into the trials expect him to die like every other expendable body before him. Instead, Raine tears through the trained nobles with his bare hands, awakens a War-God frame that a wasteland miner was never supposed to possess, and demonstrates power on a scale the galaxy has never had to reckon with, taking down a warship with a single strike. The Church, which enforces the galaxy's beliefs about blood and purity, moves against him the moment it recognizes the alien blood behind his power, condemning the very thing that makes him extraordinary. Raine answers by breaking their sacred laws outright and climbing to the position of supreme commander, a man who does not just survive the system that discarded him but rewrites it. Underneath the spectacle sits an emotional foundation built on a son's fight for his mother and a story that turns its galactic setting into an examination of a world that decides who deserves to live based on the blood in their veins.
